Prosper Australia Research Institute

The Prosper Australia Research Institute (PARI) engages in research exploring the problems caused by our current tax system. We aim to expand the body of knowledge investigating how taxation can be best utilised to promote an innovative, creative, and sustainable economy. Our primary focus is the efficient capture of economic rents and the unlocked potential that can result.

Our research focuses on a more effective means of real estate taxation, the largest asset base in the nation. This includes transitioning away from stamp duty and towards land taxes, reducing the waste of speculative vacancies, and capturing community-created wealth by rezoning windfalls.

Economic rents can also be captured across natural resources and natural monopolies. Importantly, such revenues can be channeled to reduce the tax burden on productive small businesses.
